| | A summer at Wolfeboro is far more than academic. The focus on afternoons and weekends turns to a wide range of sports, recreational and entertainment opportunities both on campus as well as within the surrounding summer resort area. The absence of computers and cell phones sets the stage for active and enthusiastic participation. The campus has a complete waterfront facility for swimming, sailing, kayaking, and canoeing; a five-acre playing field, tennis courts, volleyball court, basketball court, and weight-training room. While many options are available, some activities are required for specific age groups, such as our Water, Land and Mountains (WLM) Program for those 14 years old and younger and the Mountain, Arts, Physical Fitness and Safety (MAPS) Program for 15 and 16-year-olds. (See the Student Handbook of Policies and Procedures for details). Athletic and recreational activities are organized by age group. The student enjoys spirited intramural games and activities. Every student is assigned to an intramural sports team (six teams in the older division and six teams in the younger division). These teams compete on an almost daily basis in soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball, and a series of all-league competitions such as a water carnival, land carnival, swim meet, sailing regatta, and various other sports. Weekend trips are scheduled to events of special interest in Wolfeboro and vicinity, and include excursions to places such as the White Mountains, water and amusement parks, movies, bowling and roller-skating. Whether it is painting in our Studio Arts room, learning to sail, earning Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or vying for the volleyball championship, all activities and trips are thoroughly supervised by a fully trained residential life staff.
