Literature 3


Designed For: Rising 10th and 11th grade students

Content: Literature 3 explores the three genres of literature (drama, poetry, and short fiction).  Students will develop elevated strategies for vocabulary building and for comprehending, paraphrasing and summarizing text.  

Students also strengthen their ability to critically analyze works of literature in writing and in class discussion.  Attention to detail, organization, planning, neatness, study skills and study habits permeate the course, setting the stage for general success.

This course can meet the needs of students requiring a credit in 10th or 11th grade English, especially when Written Expression 3 or Written Expression 4 is taken as a companion course.

Materials: 
  • An Introduction to Literature, 12th Edition (Longman)
  • Other materials selected to meet individual student’s needs
