Summer 2019
June 26 - July 31

Grammar Laboratory

Designed For: Rising 8th, 9th and 10th grade students.

Content: Emphasis is on grammar terminology, sentence diagrams, and the structure of grammar as a series of visual patterns. Through diagramming, students learn to better understand the logic and structure of sentences, which increases logical thinking in general, enables them to transform simple ideas into more sophisticated writing and improves reading comprehension. Pencil and paper writing requires planning, forethought and organization.

Materials:
  • Writer’s Choice: English Grammar Workbook 8 (Glencoe, McGraw-Hill)
  • Materials selected to meet individual student’s needs

Placement in the proper level of writing benefits from input from those who know the student’s writing well. Current teachers should be consulted about placement.

It is usually helpful if an academic writing sample corrected by the teacher can also be submitted.
